Inching Towards Free Trade

Bennu says:  With much shaking and wiggling, African countries are trying their best to shake off colonial powers and their effects from their countries.  After years of these Europeans shamelessly stripping them of their resources, preventing trade between African countries, and locking Africans out of deciding their own destiny, another move forward has been made.

The African union is pushing for a free trade agreement with many African countries which will allow them to trade with each other without heavy tariffs that were put in place to block such developments.  This will be the largest free trade pact ever with 55 countries, 1.2 billion poeople, and a GDP of $2.5 dollars.

AfCFTA can be ratified if it has a minimum of 22 votes for it.  And in April 2019, that mininmum was reached!

This will be a positive step for the African people and the land.

The Ethiopian Airline Crash

March 10, 2019 a great tragedy happened.

The boeing 737 MAX 8, with the all Ethiopian female pilot, crashed.  All 157 people on board died.  No survivors.

So many questions arise.  Was it the Mansa Musa syndrome that triggered so many glorious praises and Facebook memes about the all women flight team? Could that have instilled jealousy and envy of the world?

And apparently, the United States warned its citizens not to go to the Ethiopian airport two days prior..  Why?  Did they know something? At a time when Ethiopia, and Africa for that matter, is thriving and booming economically, why did the United States put out such a warning?  What did they know?  Was there warning signs?  Did they share their intel with Ethiopia?

And then was the actual plane, the boeing 737 MAX 8, an American made airplane  Apparently, its been known for having problems, and should not have been used for long flights.  Not that that mattered because the crash happened a few seconds after take off.

In the space of only six months, this plane model has suffered two crashes.

Was there foul play?  Was it from carelessness? Sad tragedy.
